臺南市美術館 × 河床劇團《未來身體·夢境之間》是一項劃時代的計畫，結合了河床劇團廣受好評的XR沉浸式體驗「之間」（Blur），以及由一群具創新精神的國際藝術家共同參與的跨領域展覽。此展演延續臺南市美術館一貫的策展使命，致力於向觀眾介紹前衛的藝術創作，探索並重新定義視覺藝術與表演藝術之間的邊界。
繼場場爆滿的威尼斯影展、國家兩廳院及臺中國家歌劇院演出後，河床劇團將在臺南首度呈現其混合實境作品「之間」，該作曾獲《富比士》（Forbes）讚譽為「前所未見的藝術體驗」。作品融合了360度虛擬實境（360VR film）、擴增實境（AR）、動作捕捉、沉浸式裝置以及數位動畫。國際媒體《Medium》更讚揚「『之間』為未來的沉浸式藝術樹立了新標竿」。
與演出同步登場的展覽「In Between」是一個跨領域展覽，以複製與基因工程為主題。參展的22位海內外藝術家的作品涵蓋了雕塑、繪畫、素描、攝影、版畫及錄像藝術等多種媒材，呈現未來身體與人類想像的多重維度。

Tainan Art Museum x Riverbed Theatre: Future Body – In the Dreamscape is a ground-breaking project combining Riverbed Theatre's critically acclaimed XR experience, Blur, and an interdisciplinary exhibition featuring works by a group of innovative international artists. Future Body continues TAM's mission to introduce audiences to cutting-edge work that is redefining the boundaries between the visual and performing arts. After sold-out performances at the 2025 Venice Film Festival, Taiwan National Theatre, and the National Taichung Theatre, Riverbed Theatre is staging the Tainan premiere of their mixed reality production Blur, which Forbes magazine praised as “unlike anything I have ever seen.” Combining 360VR film, augmented reality, motion capture, an immersive installation, and digital animation, the critic for the arts journal Medium celebrated Blur for “setting the bar for immersive arts for years to come.” Staged in conjunction with the performance, In Between is a multidisciplinary exhibition that explores themes of cloning and genetic engineering. The artwork by the group of 21 Taiwanese and international artists includes sculpture, painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, and video art.

世界上許多問題都源自於人類過度強調界線的清晰性。社會教導我們去在意各種界線，從國與國之間的疆界、男女之間的生理差異，到更根本的「我們」與「他們」之間的隔閡。然而，儘管我們竭盡全力去劃定和維持這些界限，卻始終存在著一種連結的流動性，一種朦朧、介於邊界之間、充滿可能性的空間。於是，我們逐漸學會質疑那些過於簡化的二分法：善與惡、科學與自然、身體與心靈、夢境與現實，並讚賞那些規則鬆動、潛能顯現的時刻。這不僅是外在平行宇宙的存在，更是一個親近而無限的內在世界，它從地表之下湧現，在我們的肌膚之下脈動。無時無刻，都蘊藏著無限的可能性。
本次展覽「In Between」探討了創作的多樣性，涵蓋藝術、戲劇和科技的交會。作為XR體驗計畫「之間」的姊妹篇，展覽一方面揭示此計畫的幕後發展歷程，另一方面串聯其他藝術家的既有作品，從新的觀點與藝術視角，延伸對身份、道德與進步的討論。反思在這個快速變化的時代，我們能夠堅守哪些價值？哪些真理依然存在？
「In Between」展覽匯集了來自加拿大、美國和臺灣等22位跨領域藝術家的作品。預計展示作品包含藝術家過往或全新創作，與XR體驗計畫的概念相互啟發，讓觀眾得以從不同角度看見計畫背後的思考路徑與脈絡。作品涵蓋AI輔助版畫、攝影、影像、繪畫和多媒體拼貼，體現《未來身體·夢境之間》計畫對跨界性和混合性的融合美學與未來發展。
So many of the world’s problems derive from mankind’s over-emphasis on the clarity of boundaries. Society has taught us to focus on everything from the physical borders dividing nations and the physiological distinctions between males and female to, more fundamentally, the gap separating “us” from “them.” But despite all the efforts to draw and maintain these distinctions, there is always a fluidity that connects, a hazy, liminal realm of possibilities. And so, we gradually learn to question overly simplistic dichotomies—good/evil, science/nature, body/mind, dream/reality—and we celebrate the moments of slippage when these binaries are subverted and the infinite possibilities of life are revealed. It is not just the existence of parallel universes “out there” but a more intimate and limitless “in here,” bubbling up from under the earth’s surface, pulsing beneath our skin. At all times, infinite possibilities.
This exhibition explores this creative multiplicity, embracing the intersections between art, theatre, and technology. Designed as a companion piece to the XR experience Blur, this exhibition simultaneously provides audiences with an opportunity to experience behind-the-scene glimpses of the project’s development while also integrating artworks that provide new insights and artistic lenses to reflect on issues of identity, morality, and “progress.” In these rapidly changing times, what values can we hold onto? What truths remain?
In Between incorporates artworks by Canadian, America, and Taiwanese artists that were created during and inspired by the development of the XR experience, providing audiences with a behind-the-scene glimpse of the project. The artworks include AI-assisted prints, photography, video, painting, and multi-media collage, embodying the exhibition’s emphasis on interdisciplinarity and hybridity.

1993 年《侏羅紀公園》上映時，恐龍復活似乎只存在於好萊塢電影中。30年後的今天，富人能夠透過複製技術，讓寵物起死回生，科幻小說成為了現實，我們生活在一個死亡不再意味著終點的年代。
「之間」是一場結合現場表演與虛擬實境的混合實境劇場，編織出一場數位幻境。觀眾將沉浸於一個超現實的空間裡，探索生命與死亡、現實與虛構之間那條曖昧不明的界線。隨著旅程展開，觀眾將步入層層變換的景觀，親身感受科技發展帶來如同魔術般的奇蹟與震撼。

What if we could defeat death?
When Jurassic Park was released in 1993, resurrecting dinosaurs seemed like something only possible in Hollywood films. Now, three decades later, fiction has become reality, as the wealthy can clone their deceased pets and “bring them back to life.” We are living in an age in which death no longer means the end.
Blur is a mixed-reality theater experience that explores this liminal state between life and death, fact and fiction. The production immerses the ten audience members in a surreal world that integrates a live performer with the digital wonders of virtual reality. The audience journeys through an unfolding landscape, encountering firsthand the magical possibilities and terrifying consequences of these scientific advancements. The future is present. Step into the unknown.

Riverbed Theatre was founded in 1998 in Taipei, Taiwan. The company’s image-based, Total Theatre productions blur the boundaries between visual and performing arts. Critics have praised the organic, sculptural quality of Riverbed’s “subconscious” theatre, comparing the performances to the best works of Samuel Beckett and David Lynch. Riverbed has staged over fifty original productions, including works at the Taiwan National Theatre, National Taichung Theater, Asia Culture Center (Korea), Esplanade Studio Theatre (Singapore), Theatre de la Condition de Soies (France), Imaginale Figurentheater Festival (Germany), Kobe Arts Village Center (Japan), and Robert Wilson’s Watermill Center (USA). In 2022, the company established Riverbed Theatre Ltd. to focus on producing VR and XR productions. Riverbed’s virtual reality films have been selected for the Venice Film Festival for four consecutive years (2022-2025) and have won the Best Immersive Experience Award at the Luxembourg City Film Festival, the Panorama Award at the Festival du Nouveau Cinema, and the Best VR360 Award at the Kaohsiung Film Festival.
